Our goal is to share the beauty of Mexican folk dances with the general public and educate dancers with the history, culture, and tradition associated with the vibrant regional costumes and choreography.

About Us

Ms. Elsa Y. Nelligan has been dancing and teaching in Austin, Texas for over 30 years. She founded Ballet Folklórico Mexikayotl (BFM) on January 6th, 1999. She travels to México several times each year to attend civic, religious, and folk festivals. She continues her education by attending classes, workshops, and dance conferences throughout México.
Ms. Nelligan is presently a dance instructor at Williams Elementary, Casey Elementary, McCallum HS, and Rundberg IDEA Academy.

Our group has been invited to perform across Texas as well as Canada, Peru, and Mexico.
Locally BFM performs at festivals, schools, churches, parades, conferences, quinceañeras, weddings, and private parties.
Classes are available for children (ages 5 and up), teens, and adults.
